Cheeses Win First Place!
10/20/08
Two of our cheeses recently took first place in their categories
at the American Dairy Goat Association Cheese Contest! Our Boule
(pictured on the right) is a creamy pasta-filata style cheese just great for
cooking. Our Feta is a brine cured Mediterranean style cheese
that is fresh-tasting and creamy, perfect for Greek cooking, salads, or
omelets.

GOAT LOVE AT BLACK
MESA RANCH It's the
goats. I can't get them out of my mind. I'm a city kid so I'm naturally
somewhat apprehensive when faced with live farm animals. Like cows-they're
so big-how can you be sure they're all that docile? And horses, they bite
and kick if you're not very careful. So these goats at Black Mesa Ranch up
in the White Mountains-as soon as they see you, they come running,
trotting, or in the case of the little two-day old ones, tottering toward
you with a look of steady determination in their goggly eyes and you've
heard, well, that goats eat anything, and you can't help but wonder…am I
lunch? Click

Artisans at Work
Goat cheese-making is definitely a family affair
at Black Mesa Ranch, where owner and professionally trained chef
David Heininger makes the cheese and his wife Kathryn manages the
"girls", a herd of Nubian goats that supply rich, creamy milk and
plenty of personality. Click here for the
